This tutorial is here because it will show you how to remove one of these handy devices quickly! We hope you enjoy discovering the secrets of this drawing in our step-by-step guide on how to draw a padlock in 6 steps.

How To Draw A Padlock – Let’s Get Started!

Step 1

To start this guide on drawing a padlock, we will begin by removing the central part of the padlock. When you draw this main part of the padlock, try to maintain the dimensions this rectangular object would have if you held it in your hands. Use two vertical lines close together for the thin side of the padlock, and then use a slightly curved horizontal line for the base. Finish by drawing another curved, somewhat vertical pipe for the other side of the padlock. The top of it will be empty for now, but we’ll fill it up soon!

Step 2: Draw the top edge of the padlock.

This second part of your padlock design will allow you to fill in the blanks left in the previous step. In this step, you will draw the top edge of the padlock and again use slightly curved lines to connect all of the earlier advantages of the padlock. When drawing, leave two relatively small gaps at the top. The contact photo will show you how they should be positioned, and the metal rod of the padlock will pass through them later. With this part of the latch retracted, you are now ready for step 3

Step 3: Now draw the keyhole of the padlock.

The padlock would be pretty useless without the keyhole, as it would lock the owner out of their property and potential intruders! So it’s best to add the keyhole to this step of our guide on how to draw a padlock. The location of the keyhole may vary depending on the brand of the padlock, but it will be on the front of the padlock.

The keyhole will have a round top and then a rectangular section below. Add a few more lines inside to give this keyhole some depth, and then we can move on.

Step 4: Next, draw the padlock strip

Another essential feature of any padlock is the metal bar that sticks out of it. We will draw this aspect for this part of your padlock design. In this step, you will also fill in the spaces left at the top of the padlock in the previous step.

When drawing this bar, the more you can get, the better. It also has a rather peculiar shape, so try to take it slow and replicate the lines as they appear in our reference image. Once the ribbon is drawn, you can move on to some final details in the next step!

Step 5: Count the Last Points to Your Padlock Delineation

You are now prepared to count some last communications to this fifth stage of our direction on how to draw a padlock! The full outline of the padlock is complete at this point, so now we’ll add some more detail for added realism. To do this, we’ll add thick, reasonably straight lines on different sides of the padlock to create shading detail.

You can also add more of these shading details if you want! Before moving on to the last step of the guide, you can also draw some additional information. What do you think this lock will bring? You can show us some of your ideas by drawing a background for this image. It would be exciting to see what you would use this padlock for!

Step 6: Finish drawing the padlock with paint.

This is the last step in drawing your padlock; you can finish by adding colors to the image. In our reference image, we used shades of gold and yellow for the main body of the padlock. This helps give the piece the appearance of being gleaming bronze. We used gray colors for the bar to give it a more metallic look. We have chosen these colors, but there are many more colors than you.
